USF Faces "Must Win" Game with Rutgers

USF has not won a game in game in awhile, 42 days to be exact when the team kickoffs against Rutgers on Saturday night, matching the longest streak in program history (per Greg Auman). As GA also pointed out, the Bulls ended their longest streak, with a win against Rutgers, on November 5th (few years ago), so a little bit of history that surrounds the team as they head into the weekend.

The Bulls will play 5 games in 26 days after the Rutgers game, an insane streak that could either send the team to a bowl game or could send them to a losing season.

This kind of schedule is brutal. The Bulls are pretty banged up right now, losing the top receiver in Griffin, two key reserve corners in Ricardo Dixon and Enrie Tabuteau, and dealing with all the nagging injuries (quite a few players to list there). USF had the bye week to rest and heal the best they could and now face a "do or die" time in the season.

We hate to say one game is do or die, but the feeling with this season, the game at Rutgers is that game. After winning 4 straight games, they have dropped 3 straight, all in conference, and have lost in every way they could think off. They were blown out by Pitt (how), couldn't get enough offense against UCONN, and couldn't get a stop on defense vs. Cincinnati. Now they face a road trip to a hostile environment and will face cold weather (remember Daniels complained about UCONN weather, let's see how he does in this game).

There is no quit in the team, they will continue to battle, but the road ahead is a rough one. Can they stay healthy long enough and can they overcome the mistakes, the little things that continue to hold them back, and get the much needed win and get to a bowl game?
