USF MBB Falls 46 to 69 to VCU

We feel the same way Coach.
Talk about a rough night for the Bulls. USF (5-3) came off of a solid win over FAU over the weekend and was looking to get a solid win on the road, but the VCU rams had another idea in this game as they beat the Bulls down 46 to 69 after being tied at 28 at half time.

The real story of the game was the turnovers by the USF guards in the second half and the injury to Toarlyn Fitzpatrick that hurt the Bulls inside depth and led to their demise in the second half.

Ron Anderson Jr. had 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the way for USF. Victor Rudd had 10 points (just 3 for 8 shooting) and 6 rebounds. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 7 points and 5 rebounds. Fitzy did injure his ankle, forcing him to miss some time as the USF family took a deep sigh of relief when he was able to come back to the floor.

LaVonte Dority played just one minute in the game as Heath relied on Nash and Collins to play, but it didn't work too well to start the game. Nash finished with just 4 points (0 of 7 shooting) adding 2 assists. Anthony Collins had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, but turned the ball over 6 times as the Bulls could not get any clean offense going during the night. Hugh Robertson had 6 points and 3 rebounds on the night as well.

The Bulls have to snap out of it and get back to playing their game. Gilchrist should be back this Saturday as the Bulls face Kansas at 5:15 on ESPN 2. USF needs better play out of their guards, including scoring and better possessions, not turning the ball over. Hopefully this kind of loss will wake the team up and get them back and hopefully to a big win on Saturday.
