USF Notches Win Number 3 Over Florida Southern

Gilchrist led the way for the Bulls as they won easily over D2 opponent Florida Southern tonight (www.gousfbulls.com)

Another game, another venue, no sweat for the Bulls as they took care of business, beating Florida Southern 73 to 43, running their record to 3-0 to open the season. The Bulls had control of the game from the start, using their size to dominate the paint and wear down the Mocs.

Ron Anderson Jr. had 7 points and 11 rebounds as he continues his solid start. Shaun Noriega had no points on the night (getting 2 rebounds). This was not his best game, but the deadly shooter will get it together. LaVonte Dority had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and just 1 turnover as he continues to do an excellent job at the point guard position.

Victor Rudd had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. It was a quiet night compared to his 30-point performance from the night before, but he didn't need to blow up the stat sheet in this game. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 12 points and 8 rebounds, showing some outside range. Hugh Robertson had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Blake Nash had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists as he continues to heat up. Augustus Gilchrist had 15 points (led team), 9 rebounds, and blocked 6 shots (USF blocked 12 on the night). The biggest play of the night came from former walk-on Alberto Damour who got a chance to play. He scored 4 points and had 2 rebounds. We are glad to see him get a chance to get a few minutes!

The Bulls had a great night, getting a big win, dominating like they should have, but still have issues to resolve. They were just 8 of 15 from the free throw line, hitting just 53% of their shots. They will have to get better at the charity stripe as the season goes on. The Bulls will now hit the road (they are always on the road) as they face Old Dominion on Saturday (game is at 2PM).
