Jasmine Wynee (above) will have to be at her best to beat North Florida (www.gousfbulls.com) |
The Bulls, 1-2, return home after a 3-game tournament in Daytona Beach over the weekend. The first game will be played in the Recreation Center (game starts at 7PM).
North Florida is 0-1 on the season, dropping their opener 59 to 68 to Ole Miss. North Florida runs a similar style to USF, relying on guards to get the job done and dictate the temp. The Bulls have a size advantage with Cailtin Rowe in the paint, but let's see who North Florida brings to this game.
North Florida is led by junior guard Fabiola Josil (5-7). She had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists in the first game, doing a little bit of everything for the Ospreys. Senior guard Brittany Kirkland (5-7) had 14 points and 5 assists, giving the Ospreys a solid back court. Sophomore forward Jasmine Hicks (5-10) had 5 points, junior guard Jadhken Kerr (5-11) had 6 points and 4 rebounds, and junior forward/center Larkira Jones (6-2) had 4 points and 10 rebounds. Jones is the force inside for the Ospreys, so look for Rowe to battle her inside for rebounds and for points.
Look out for senior guard Kim Parker (5-7) who had 8 points and junior forward Taylor Smith (6-0) who also had 8 points off the bench to provide scoring off the bench for the Ospreys.
USF will need a strong performance with Saunders, Smith, Wynne, and Rowe in this game to defend home court. USF has more speed and more size inside the paint than North Florida, so they should be able to dictate the pace of the game and control the boards, looking for win number two of the season.
