The Orange are led by Head Coach Doug Marrone, entering his 3rd season as the head coach of the Orange. The former Orange offensive lineman, came to Syracuse in 2009 after spending 2006 to 2008 as the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. Before that, he was the offensive line coach for the Jets (2002-2005).
Marrone runs a solid team, coaching the offensive line the hardest. His teams are always disciplined, play hard, and do every little thing right. They play stout defense, keeping everything in front of them and are methodical of offense, running the ball and having the quarterback due just enough to win the game. USF is facing a well coached team and Marrone has changed the Orange for the better in his short time with them.
The defensive coordinator is Scott Schafer. Schafer joined Syracuse in 2009 (with Marrone). He spent his 2008 season as the coordinator for Michigan and spent the 2007 with Stanford. He coaches the secondary well, making them one of the strongest units on the field. He continually pushes players to play at a high level and they continue to shine. The Bulls will face a real challenge with the Orange defense, especially in the passing game.
The offensive coordinator is Nathaniel Hackett, he is also the quarterbacks and tight ends coach, so we know what we will see here (well coached quarterback and tight ends in the passing game). He was the quarterbacks coach in 2010 for the Orange, helping Ryan Nassib become a consistent passer. He runs a balanced offense, starting with a strong offensive line and relying the running backs to get the game started. Nassib throws well and will attack the secondary when he gets his chances in this game.
