USF 2012 Baseball: Kyle Parker

Kyle Parker - Junior - 6-2 200-pounds - LHP

Parker is another member of the USF pitching staff that was used sparingly last year, but with all of the departures, he will have to step up his performance when called upon. Last year in 5 appearances, he went 0-1 while working 14.1 innings. He allowed 10 hits, walked 7, and struck out 4 while holding opponents to a .200 batting average against him and finished with a 3.14 ERA. He was effective in spots, but the high number of walks is not a great sign.

Parker did make improvements from his 2010 season where he finished with an 0-2 record after working 15 innings, allowing 18 hits, 11 walks, and struck out 12. He allowed opponents to hit .310 vs. him and finished with an awful 5.40 ERA.

Parker improve his numbers in 2011 and will have to continue to get stronger. With holes in the rotation and staff, veterans like Parker will have to carry the load late in games and help keeping opposing offenses off the bases.
