The USF ladies battled hard, but came up short against the 7th ranked Rutgers team, 66 to 72. USF shot 41% from the floor, but a cold start in the second half doomed the Bulls as they drop another close game to a ranked foe, getting close, but coming up short. The loss sends them to a 11-9 (3-3) record.
Inga Orekhova had 15 points on the night. Tiffany Conner had 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists on the night. Shalethia Stringfield had 6 points and 4 assists. Caitlin Rowe and 2 points and 4 rebounds. Tahira Johnson had 3 points and 3 rebounds.
Jasmine Wynne had 12 points, 2 assists and 3 steals. Kaneisha Saunders had 11 points off the bench, continuing her huge role as the spark from the bench. Akila McDonald had 6 points and 3 rebound as well.
The Bulls have come close to so many ranked teams, only to fade late in the second half. The team has the talent, but has to find a way to finish games and get the upset wins when they have the chances, especially at home with a very energetic crowd behind them. The Bulls will now host DePaul on Wednesday night at 7PM as they try to win another key Big East game.
