USF WBB Hits the Road to Take UCONN

The USF ladies, coming off of a big win at home over Seton Hall in which they needed a 20 to 6 rally in the second half to run away with the win, now have to hit the road to take on the powerhouse UCONN. USF is 12-9 (4-3) on the season, matching the win total from last season and now with more conference wins in the season, but facing UCONN is going be to a tough test.

UCONN is 18-2 (7-1) on the season, ranking them 3rd in the country. UCONN is coming off of a big win over Syracuse 95 to 54 on the season and have a 13-0 record at home. The Huskies defense is strong, allowing just 44.2 points per game while their offense scores 81.6 points per game, so the Bulls are facing a big uphill battle in this game (game starts at 1PM).

UCONN is led by senior guard Tiffany Hayes (5-10). She is averaging 15.7 points per game (shooting 41% from 3-point range) while pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game and leading the team with 44 steals. Sophomore guard Bria Hartley (5-7) is averaging 14.9 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game.

Sophomore center Stefanie Dolson (6-5) is averaging 9.5 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and leads the team with 23 blocks. Most games, the Bulls have the advantage with Rowe and McDonald in the paint, but Dolson will make the battle for rebounds tough. Junior guard Kelly Faris (5-11) is averaging 7.1 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and has 55 steals per game, giving the Huskies two solid point guards that can run the offense and attack on defense.

Junior guard Caroline Doty (5-10) is averaging 6.5 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis is averaging 15 points off the bench and 5.4 rebounds per game. Freshman center Kiah Stokes (6-3) is averaging 4.8 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Brianna Banks (5-9) is averaging 4.4 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game, giving the Huskies a huge offensive presence off the bench.

Face the music, this is going to be a tough game for the Bulls. USF always struggles against them and the Huskies once again are loaded with offensive firepower and have the size in the paint to dominate the Bulls. USF will have to make their shots, not allowing themselves to go cold from the field and getting after them on defense. Fingers crossed for this one.
