Phil McGeoghan Headed to the NFL

From Greg Auman and Josh Newberg (first to report the news) - News came out tonight that wide receiver coach Phil McGeoghan, recently praised as one of the best recruiters for USF, is taking an assistant receiver coach position with the Miami Dolphins.

The 32-year old coach came to USF in 2009 as the wide receivers coach for Leavitt (one of the 3 remaining coaches from the Leavitt staff). Before that, he was the offensive coordinator at the Naval Academy Prep School and was the wide receivers/tight end coach at Maine.

McGeoghan has earned a reputation at USF as one of their top recruiters. He was responsible for landing top recruits such as Chris Bivins and Sean Price this season and Andre Davis and others last season, adding tons of top talent to the USF team.

McGeoghan has been an outstanding coach and an even better person at the university, working well with the players and bringing in the best players. He will be missed and now Holtz will have to add a new coach to his staff (already lost Snyder to Texas A&M). We wish Phil the best of luck in his new job.
