What a game. USF, 18-11 (11-5), battled the entire game against Cincinnati, taking the lead late in the second half, but the Bearcats took the lead late. The Bulls crawled back and after a few clutch free throws down the stretch and the incredible play of Anthony Collins, the Bulls won 46 to 45 as they continue to make a late season case for the NCAA Tournament.
Anthony Collins continues to play at a high level, raising his game down the stretch of the regular season. Collins led the way with 14 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. Ron Anderson Jr. had 7 points and 3 rebounds. He made two clutch free throws at the end and dominated the paint on defense. Hugh Robertson had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Rudd had just 5 points and 6 rebounds. Gilchrist had a bad day shooting, going just 1 for 7 with 2 rebounds and had 3 rebounds. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 8 points and 10 rebounds, making a huge 3-pointer that turned the momentum in front of a crowd of over 6000 fans.
This was a huge win, that can't be said enough. The Bulls need to win a few more games down the stretch and it started with this game. USF has two more regular season games (at Louisville and back at home against WVU) before they enter the Big East tournament where they have a first round bye (yes, it's true). This is going to be interesting in the next few weeks to see if USF can make it to the dance.
Go Bulls in the Big East they are still alive could be the first time in 20 years. Who needs West Virginia, Pitt and Syracuse.
