The Bulls came up just a little short in the final game of the regular season. |
The USF Bulls battled but came up just short in the last regular season of the year, falling 44 to 50 to WVU. USF and WVU battled the entire game, with the Mountaineers leading most of the game. The Bulls took the second half lead by 4 points, but Kevin Jones and company continued to make their shots inside and the Bulls went cold towards the end, ending the regular season 19-12 (12-6) on the season as the continue to sit on the bubble heading to the NCAA tournament.
Augustus Gilchrist had 8 points and 5 rebounds in his last regular season game of his career. Hugh Robertson had 6 points as well. Ron Anderson Jr. had 6 points and 4 rebounds as the seniors came up just a little short in the final home game. Anthony Collins had 11 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds as he continues his solid season of play. Victor Rudd had 5 points and 6 rebounds as well. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 4 points and 2 rebounds on the day. Jawanza Poland had 4 points and 5 rebounds in a quiet performance off the bench.
This is a tough loss for USF as they end senior night on a rough note, but the season is not over as the Bulls head to the Big East tournament with a lot of work to do while sitting on the bubble. The Bulls will find out later this weekend which seed they will be but could be looking at the 5th seed (possible first round bye as well).
