The USF Bulls split their opening double header of the USF Invitational on the campus today.  They are now 21-5 on the year and will play another double header tomorrow in Clearwater.

The Bulls dropped the first game 1 to 2 to Fairfield.  Sam Greiner went 5.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, walking 1 and struck out 1.  She had one "bad" inning that allowed the two runs and that would be all the Zags would need in this one.  Sara Nevins worked 1.1 innings, striking out 1 batter.  The offense had its chances, but credit has to go to Trott of Fairfield who kept the Bulls from coming home.  Gina Kafalas went 1 for 3 with a steal.  Kourtney Salvarola went 0 for 4 but scored the lone run on an RBI double by Kenshyra Jackson (went 1 for 3 in the game).

The Bulls turned the tables on the 2 to 1 score as they held on to beat Northwestern in the second game of the day.  Sara Nevins dominated the game, pitching all 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 13 batters.  Jessica Mouse went 1 for 2 in the day.  Stormi Grzybek went 1 for 1 with an RBI and Sydney Dinelli worked a walked and walked in an RBI with the bases loaded that decided the game.

The Bulls are playing well right now, getting the great pitching and the offense has the power it needs.  They will look to notch a few more wins tomorrow as they head to Clearwater and the Eddie C. Moore complex to face Northern Illinois at 1:45PM and then will face Kent State at 4PM.  They wrap up their tournament with a home game back on campus Sunday against FSU at 1:30.
