USF Baseball and Softball Complete Series sweeps

What a great weekend for USF baseball and softball.  Both teams have been on winning streaks recently and it continued today as both teams completed sweeps in their respective games.

Softball runs its winning streak to 16 now with a 6 to 0 win over SJU, completing a strong series for the Bulls.  Sara Nevins was in boss mode again, working all 7 innings, allowing just 2 hits and struck out 12 batters.  She is now 22-2 on the year, that is not a typo.  Gina Kafalas went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs.  Kenshyra Jackson went 1 for 2 with an RBI, Laura Fountain went 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Alexis Nowell went 2 for 2 with an RBI as well.  The Bulls will take the field again on Wednesday afternoon for another double header against Providence as they look to continue their winning streak.

Not to be outmatched, the baseball team beat Cincinnati 8 to 5, completing their sweep and running their record to a mark of 23-10 (8-1), keeping pace for the Big East regular season title.

Derrick Stultz went 6 innings, allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 3 as he runs his record to 5-1.  Kyle Parker worked 2.1 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs.  Steven Leasure got the last two outs of the game.

The offense got the long ball going in this one.  Daniel Rockhold went 2 for 4 with his 5th home run of the year, bringing in 4 RBIs on the day.  Andrew Longley went 1 for 4, hitting his 3rd home run of the year and drove in 2 runs.  Zac Gilcrease went 1 for 4 and scored a run as well.

The Bulls will hit the road again on Tuesday as they take on Stetson in Deland at 6:30 for a non-conference matchup.
