Before the Bulls play their first round game in the Big East
tournament, 4 players were honored by the conference for their incredible
regular seasons (full list of winners and teams can be found here).
Senior short stop Kourtney Salvarola was named 1st team All
Big East. Salvarola led the Bulls in
batting average, hitting .349 with 11 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 30 RBIs,
and stole 30 bases while playing incredible defense up the middle.
The 2nd team All Big East included 3 Bulls. Junior 1st baseman Stephanie Medina made the
team after batting .311 with 7 home runs and drove in 30 runs. Senior outfielder Janine Richardson joined
her after batting .307 with 8 doubles, 7 home runs, 27 RBIs, and 11 steals. The third player on the team is sophomore ace
pitcher Sara Nevins. Nevins is 26-4
(1.06 ERA) after pitching 205.2 innings, allowing 132 hits, 41 walks and has
268 strike outs on the year (.179 batting average against her). While being named 2nd team is a great honor,
it is a bit curious why she was not named 1st team.
Congrats ladies on the tremendous honors.
