2011 stats: Nelson redshirted his first season on campus.
Position on the depth chart: Nelson did not appear on the two-deep depth chart coming out of the spring practices.
2012 projection: Nelson moved from linebacker to defensive tackle last year, adding over 30 pounds in the process. He is very athletic and has a solid burst off the line, but will need to continue to work in the weight room and learn the position of defensive tackle. With Grissom down for 3-months (or more) and the lack of depth, he has a strong chance to move his way into the defensive front rotation this fall. Look for him to get some playing time this season and should make an impact with his speed.
