Several Freshmen on the First Fall Depth Chart

Last season, a few freshmen made an impact for the Bulls like Quinterrius Eatmon who started every game at right tackle.  This season, there are several freshmen that are on the first depth chart of the fall that will make an impact this season, on both sides of the ball.

On offense, there are at least 2 names that will be on the field this season.  Tight end Sean Price and wide receiver D'Vario Montgomery are the two that have risen on the depth chart and are now in competition for the number two spots on the roster.  Sean Price, at 6-4, is a big, physical weapon that has been a nightmare for defenses all over the place.  He can put his hand down on the ground or line at and stand vertical as a wide receiver, making it even harder for defenses.  The tight end position for the Bulls is loaded with Shields, Landi, and McFarland, but Price has the skill set to be a big time weapon and will continue to impress this fall and into the season.  Montgomery, a big wide receiver that is probably one of the more physically imposing receivers on the roster, is a weapon the team will try to figure out how to get the ball too.  Like tight end, wide receiver is loaded to the hill with speed and talent, so it will be hard for him to get onto the field for regular playing time, but like Davis did just a year ago, he has the ability to get on special teams and make impact plays.

On defense, there are 3 players that are rising up the depth chart.  Starting on the line is freshman Eric Lee who enrolled early and with an injury to Anthony Hill in the spring, he has gotten a lot of snaps with the second team defense and with his skill set, he will get a lot of snaps this season behind Giddins to help add depth and another weapon off the edge.  At linebacker, Tashon Whitehurst, a late commit for the Bulls this season, has continued to turn heads and the coaches continue to talk about him and now he finds himself on the depth chart at the WILL position, tied with Mike Juene in the second time.  He will have limited snaps with Lattimore entrenched as the starter, but for a true freshman to rise up and and appear on the depth chart over other young players that have been with the team for a year (Hamilton, Louis and Caprice for example) says a lot about his skill level and the type of potential he has.  The other freshman in the secondary is Chris Bivins.  The very gifted corner recovered from offseason ACL surgery and after working hard over the summer is now behind Baker on the depth chart, tied with Durden for playing time.  He is a physical player that has the speed and a high football IQ that allows him to read receivers and helps him take people out of games.  As the Bulls look for depth in the secondary and add talent to the secondary for the future, he will be a key contributor along with the other players.
