Keep attacking! |
Coming off a big road win at Indiana, the USF ladies, 2-1-0, hit the road again as they head to Orlando to take on Georgia in the UCF tournament (game begins at 5PM). Georgia is 3-1-0 on the season and will be looking to build upon its impressive 13-7-2 (6-3-2) record from last season that took them to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Georgia, coming off of a 5 to 0 win over South Dakota State, is led by redshirt freshman Bella Hartley (5-9). The youngster already has 3 goals on the
season and is leading the Bulldog attack.
Junior midfielder Alexa Newfield (5-5) has 1 goal on 5 shot
attempts. Junior defender Nikki Hall
(5-7) has one goal. Freshman forward
Andie Fontanetta (5-6) has taken 6 shots already and sophomore midfielder Tori
Cooper (5-6) has 3 shot attempts, showing the aggressive tendency of the Bulldogs
and the pace they like to run. The USF
backline, anchored in the net by freshman Christiane Endler, will have to
dictate the pace again like they did against IU. Endler has been a monster in the net,
allowing just 3 goals so far and making 13 saves to help the USF defense become
air tight.
On the flip side, senior goalkeeper Ashley Barker (5-10) has
allowed just 2 goals all season and has made 11 saves so far. Being a senior, she has a lot of experience
in the net and will be tough to score again.
The Bulls will have to bring the heat in the game to break through. Sharla Passariello, who already has 3 goals
for the Bulls, will have to stay in attack mode and the team will need others
such as Demi Stokes, who is starting to get more looks at the goal, to bring
the energy as well and keep the Bulldogs on defense all game long.
The Bulls will battle Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon at noon to end the tournament after this game.
