USF Women's Soccer Hits the Road to Face Indiana

The ladies, after facing two in-state foes sit at and now hit the road to take on Indiana in their first road contest of the season. The Bulls, after dropping the opening game of the season, rebounded with an impressive win against Miami, but it gets harder now.

Indiana, went 6-12-1 (2-9-0) last season and went just 4-5-1 at home as well.  But, they are off to a fast start themselves, 2-0-0 to begin the year and will pose a real early road test for the Bulls as they try to get above .500 (game starts at 7:30PM).

Indiana is lead by senior forward Orianica Velasquez (5-6) who lead the team with 7 last season (32 SOG) and had 2 assists.  She already has 1 goal and 1 assist to begin the 2012 season.  Junior midfielder Lisa Nouanesengsy (5-2) scored 6 goals (16 SOG) and added 2 assists last season and already this year has 5 goals (come one), giving the Hoosiers two aggressive strikes that will be active and press the USF backline and freshman goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

Sophomore midfielder Abby Smith (5-4) had 2 goals (7 SOG) and 2 assists last season.  Sophomore midfielder Rebecca Dreher (6-5) had 2 goals last season (has 1 goal so far this season) and sophomore midfielder Jordan Woolums (5-10) added 2 assists as well (has 1 goal and 1 assist so far this season as well).  The Hoosiers have a relatively experienced front line, but their backline has not been that active in going on the attack and helping in the scoring department.  They tend to stay back, set up the strikers and let them do their job.  Look for a very hard and physical game in the box for both sides.

In net for Indiana is junior Shannon Flower (5-8) who only played sparingly last season.  She allowed 5 goals and made 4 saves last season in just around 200 minutes of action in net.  So far this season, she has allowed just 2 goals and has made 4 stops, so this could and should be a low scoring affair.

The Bulls have looked good on the attack in their first two games.  Sharla Passariello is being very aggressive on the attack, Demi Stokes is just getting warmed up and newcomer Marsha Harper is already turning heads with her attack.  The key will once again be for the defensive backline to hold and for Christiane Endler to continue to hold down the net and communicate with her defenders.  The Bulls should have a strong showing in this game and should notch another win.
