Key Match-ups for USF vs. Ball State

The Bulls are facing a MAC team on the road and while it may seem the Bulls should be the big time favorite in this game, they have a lot of individual match-ups that will be important to watch.

WR Andre Davis vs. CB Jason Pinkston - Davis is the big time receiver for the Bulls and he will be matching up with the most experienced corner for Ball State in Jason Pinkston.  Davis, the best route runner and a sure handed target, will need to be at his best, get off the line, and get big time receptions against him to keep Ball State on their heels and get the Bulls moving down the field.

LT Mark Popek vs. LE Jonathan Newsome - Mark Popek is sliding back to his left tackle position and will have to contend with a tough pass rusher.  Newsome, an Ohio State transfer, is regarded as the best pass rusher for the Cardinals and a hate man in practice by Wenning and their offense.  Popek has to keep him off Daniels and allow him to make plays and got see the game from his back.

DE Ryne Giddins vs. Cam Lowry LT - Lowry, a senior leader, is a major piece to the Cardinals front line.  Giddins, the best pass rusher for USF, will have his hands full trying to get pressure on Lowry and get to Wenning.  He will need to use his speed and hands to beat Lowry and get in the backfield.

USF front 7 vs. QB Keith Wenning - The Cardinals have a big front 5 on the line and the game will be decided with the Bulls front 7 and how much pressure they can get on Wenning and contain the rushing game of the Cardinals.  Ball State can run the ball and Wenning is good on his feet, posing a challenge for the Bulls front line and for the linebackers to stay in their gaps and make strong openfield tackles.

CB Kayvon Webster vs. WR Willie Sneed - Sneed, the best receiver for the Cardinals, has the size and speed to get down field and cause issues.  Kayvon, the best cover corner for the Bulls, will have to keep up with him and make sure Wenning cannot find his favorite passing target.
