Scouting FSU: Offense

The FSU offense is very talented and is loaded at all the positions.  It will be interesting to see how the Bulls defense that has not been able to get any pressure, to get anything done against them.

The FSU offensive line is anchored by redshirt sophomore Cameron Irving (6-6 310-pounds) who starts at left tackle.  Behind him on the depth chart is sophomore Daniel Glauser (6-5 305-pounds).  At left guard is sophomore Josue Matias (6-6 326-pounds) and behind him is sophomore Jacob Fahrenkrug (6-6 322-pounds).   At center is redshirt junior Bryan Stork (6-4 312-pounds) and behind him is sophomore Austin Barron (6-3 295-pounds).  At right guard is sophomore Tre’ Jackson (6-4 327-pounds) and sophomore Bobby Hart (6-4 316-pounds).  At right tackle is junior Menzlik Watson (6-6 320-pounds) and redshirt junior Garret Faircloth (6-7 296-pounds).  This offensive line, while still young, is big and getting better.  They will protect Manuel and will challenge the Bulls defensive front 7 to get some pressure and dictate the line of scrimmage.

At the quarterback position is senior E.J. Manuel (6-5 238-pounds). He is 69 of 94 (73%) this season for   904 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 1 interception.  While he can be inaccurate throwing the ball deep, he hits the underneath routes fast and allows his receivers to get big yardage while allowing them to create with their great speed.  He has carried the ball 25 times for 188 yards and 1 touchdown, showing he can move around a lot more than in past years.  Behind the big senior is redshirt sophomore Clint Trickett (6-3 180-pounds) who is 16 of 20 for 224 yards, but we will probably not see him unless Manuel gets hurt or the game is a blow out.

At the tailback position is senior Chris Thompson (5-8 187-pounds) who has carried the ball 33 times for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns (guy is just gashing defenses).  He also has 11 receptions for 121 yards out fo the backfield.  Behind him is sophomore Devonta Freeman (5-8 209-pounds) who has 23 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown (2 receptions for 14 yards).  Sophomore James Wilder Jr. (6-2 226-pounds) has 41 carries for 285 yards and 6 touchdowns, showing his big play ability (3 receptions for 24 yards).  At fullback is senior Lonnie Dryor (6-0 229-pounds) who has 11 carries for 54 yards and 3 big touchdowns and junior Chad Abram (6-0 235-pounds).  The Noles can just rotate a lot of speed in their backfield and will have the defense all over the place trying to shut them down.

At the Z-receiver position is senior Rodney Smith (6-6 219-pounds) who has 8 receptions for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Behind him is junior Greg Dent (5-11 195-pounds) who has 9 receptions for 123 yards and 1 touchdown and redshirt freshman Kelvin Benjamin (6-5 242-pounds) who has 12 receptions for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Benjamin has emerged a big body threat that will stretch the field vertically for Manuel and the offense.  At the Y-wide receiver position is junior Jarred Huggins (6-0 190-pounds) who has 5 receptions for 58 yards.  Behind him is redshirt sophomore Christian Green (6-2 200-pounds) who has 3 receptions for 33 yards and freshman Marvin Bracy (5-9 172-pounds).  At the X-wide receiver position is sophomore Rashad Greene (6-0 170-pounds) who has 11 for 115 yards and 1 touchdown.  Behind him is junior Kenny Shaw (6-0 170-pounds)who has 12 receptions for161 yards and 1 touchdown and redshirt junior Willie Haulstead (6-2 227-pounds).  At the starting tight end position is sophomore Nick O’Leary (6-3 238-pounds) who has 6 receptions for 96 yards.  Behind him is junior Kevin Japlea (6-4 247-pounds), freshman Christo Kourtzidis (6-4 246-pounds), and redshirt sophomore Will Tye (6-2 256-pounds).

This is a huge offense to deal with and if the Bulls can't get any pressure on Manuel and allow the skill players to get down the field, it could be bad.
