Special teams are always important and facing a tough team like RU and how close they always play USF, it could be a deciding factor in this game. Let's met some of their specialists.
At the place kicker position is freshman Kyle Federico (6-0 185-pounds) who is replacing long-time kicker San San Te. Federico, after not kicking at all in 2011, is 1 of 2 to star the season, hitting the one field at 28 yards out. Behind him is sophomore Nick DeLouisa (6-3 200-pounds) who has not recorded any stats during his career.
At the punter position is senior Justin Doerner (6-0 195-pounds) who punted the ball 64 times last season, averaging 40.3 yards per kick, 24 inside the opponents 20-yard line. So far this season 11 times, averaging 41.9 per kick including a long of 57 yards and has landed 5 inside the opponents 20, making field position a huge problem. Doerner has a strong leg that can pin the Bulls back, but with Mitchell returning the ball well, he will have a chance to get some yards if Doerner does not place the ball well against him. Behind Doerner is redshirt freshman Anthony DiPaula (6-1 190-pounds) who is the kickoff specialist as well. It will be interesting to see if Kayvon Webster can get a few big returns against him.
At the kick return position is junior running back Jeremy Deering (6-2 210-pounds) who returned 17 kicks for 530 yards (31.2 per return) and one touchdown. He's returned just one for 55 yards, being limited with an ankle sprain. Marvin Kloss will have to stay away from him during the game and angle kicks away to avoid the big returns. Behind him is redshirt freshman Paul James (6-0 195-pounds).
Doerner is the big leg for RU, Federico is still new to the kicking game as well. Deering is a big time return man and will give the Bulls headaches if they cannot contain him.
