Make Corbett rock! |
The USF Bulls, after a impressive road trip, return home to Corbett to face South Carolina in the first game of the USF Tournament. USF, 3-0-0, had some late magic heroics from their top players such as Ben Sweat and Lucas Baldin and will be looking to continue their impressive streak back in Tampa. SC is 1-1-1 on the season and is trying to get into rhythm after tying Northwestern (ranked 25th in the country) 0-0 in two overtimes (game begins at 7:30PM)
SC is led by junior forward/midfielder Bradlee Baladee (6-1 180-pounds) who led the Gamecocks with 7 goals last season, but is scoreless after 3 games with 8 shots to his credit. The Bulls will have to keep him in check and keep him scoreless. Sophomore midfielder Stephen Anderson (5-10 168-pounds) has 1 goal so far this season (the lone goal for SC) on two shot attempts. Freshman forward Wesley Eads (5-11 153-pounds) has the lone assist for SC as well, showing how their offense has yet to get going. Sophomore forward Snoopy (yes, Snoopy) Davidson (6-5 162-pounds) has taken 6 shots as they try to get anything going on offense. The USF backline and Eric Osswald will have to continue to play tough and keep them off the board.
In the opposite net of Osswald is junior Alex Long (6-3 215-pounds) who has allowed 2 goals this season and has made 9 saves so far. The Bulls have played a lot of close games thus far and could be in for another on with a talented keeper like Long in the net. The Bulls have to dictate the pace, keep the Gamecocks on defense and get Edwin Moalsoni going and others to get more leads early and not trying for last minute goals and giving the fans (like myself) grey hairs.
