The USF volleyball team, 9-6 (1-1) on the season, returns home after a successful road trip last weekend. Now they must prepare for 10th ranked Louisville as they try to notch their second win in conference play. The Cardinals, 12-2 (1-1), will be looking to continue their strong play and will be a top challenge for the young Bulls (game begins at 7PM).
Louisville is led by junior middle blocker Brooke Mattingtly (6-3) who has 103 kills and 14 digs on the season. Junior defensive specialist/libero has 57 assists and 266 digs on the year. Junior setter Hanna Kvitle (5-11) has 338 assists and 97 digs. The big striker for the Cardinals is senior outside hitter Lola Arslanebekova (5-11) who has 246 kills, 12 service aces, and 183 digs on the season. Freshman setter Katie George (5-10) has 11 kills, 248 assists and 78 digs to round out the Cardinals club.
Louisville is a strong team and if the Bulls allow Arlanebekova to get going, it could be a quick match. USF needs to use their height advantage at the net and allow the young freshmen to continue to shine. Look for big games from Ciara Brown and Wylie Devlin in particular if the Bulls want to come away with the big upset.
Let's just sit back and hope for the next match to come quickly. Certainly there's going to be a lot of excitement on the next game with one of our most favorite and strongest team there is competing for their much deserved title. Their drive to acknowledgement is such an inspiration.
