Thoughts on Email Sent by Trustee Chair on USF Football

Greg Auman published a story yesterday on an email that was sent to President Judy Genshaft after the Bulls lost to Temple last Saturday.  In the very opening line in the email that was sent from the Trustee Chair, John Ramil, he said, "Disgusting and unacceptable," "We have major problems with our football program."

Ramil, a USF alum, TECO CEO, and chair of the board of trustees vented his frustration to Genshaft about the football program and stated he wants whats best for it.  He stated he was a big supporter of the extension that was given to Holtz over the winter, but also stated the performance on the field this had had too many errors and answers need to be found.

This letter made its way to AD Doug Woolard as well, reaching all the upper level people in charge around athletics.

So what does this email mean?  It means two things.  For one, it shows that people in the upper levels, board members, are not happy at all.  To get an email that quickly after a loss and from a person in such a high ranking position means something.  Usually we don't hear from the movers and shakers for the university, but this may be one of the few times one of them has stepped up and said something, letting the leadership of USF know the sentiment of the fans.

The second thing it means is that Genshaft and Woolard are listening.  The email was sent to Woolard, after which he made that statement stating they would re-evaluate everything at the season.  It shows that leadership is listening, at least a little, to the fans and what they have to say.  While it could lead to nothing, it does show that someone with a voice is echoing our frustration.
