After another tie game on a rain soaked Saturday, the Bulls, now 6-2-4 (1-0-3) on the year, continue their home stand against Mercer. Mercer, 8-3-1, on the season, will prove to be a tough non-conference test late in the season for the Bulls (game begins at 730PM).
Mercer is led by senior midfielder/defender Will Betts who leads the team with 4 goals and 1 assist. He has only taken 5 shots on goal all season, showing how accurate of a striker he really is. Senior midfielder Richie Edmondson has 3 goal and 2 assist on the year. Junior midfielder Ryan King has 1 goal and 6 assist, setting up Betts and others. Sophomore defender Ashani Samuels has 3 goals and 2 assists. Sophomore midfielder Carl-Oscar Anderson has 1 goal and 4 assists to round out the Bears offensive attack. Overall, Mercer has a lot of depth on the offense side of the ball and will put pressure on the Bulls. After allowing two goals to RU on Saturday night, Osswald and the USF backline will have to do a better job and get stops, allowing the offense to get going. With accurate strikers like Mercer has, it will be a tough test.
In goal is sophomore Greg Ranjitsingh. He has allowed 10 goals on the season and has made 55 saves. Ranjitsingh will be facing a very tough offensive attack for the Bulls. USF needs to dictate the pace of the game, keep the pressure up, and take the attack to them. Lucas Baldin and company need to get out early, get a lead and keep the pressure up and not allow Mercer to rally back late.
