From Greg Auman - The Bulls may have another scholarship available for the class of 2011. Linebacker commit Rontavious Atkins (5'11" 177-pounds) appears to have been offered a gray-shirt if he commits to USF, according to sources (Greg Auman first reported).
Apparently the coaches are worried about his grades and are no longer offering a scholarship. If he were to commit to the Bulls, it would be without a guaranteed scholarship, which is not making him too excited. He may opt for another school if he is promised a scholarship.
This may not a bad deal. The Bulls cannot have players coming into the program with issues such as grades before they even begin day one of class. This is a great sign Holtz is putting his foot down and saying what the program will stand for first. I don't see Atkins coming to USF at this point, he does have several other offers from other programs so he can take his talent somewhere else and the Bulls can go about their ways and find another recruit to bring in.
GO LUCK RONTAVIOUS ATKINS WITH WESTERN MICHIGAN, STUDY AND WORK HARD.
ReplyDeleteIts tough that he couldn't make the grades to enroll at USF. He will do just fine at Western Michigan and USF has more than enough players coming in to win the Big East.
