2011 is the year of the rabbit for the Chinese, but for USF, it could be the year of the dinosaur, I mean of course T-Rex. T-Rex, better known as Terrence Mitchell, is a touchdown waiting to happen on every snap for the Bulls. The speedy freshman gave USF fans a glimpse this season of the bright future ahead.[keep reading]
Terrence Mitchell, 5'10" 165-pounds, came to USF last season as a surprise commit. Mitchell had planned on attending FSU for a long time, but his cousin, Lindsey Lamar was able to convince him to come to Tampa instead. Mitchell is an electric runner. The cornerback burst onto the scene for the Bulls on punt returns, showing incredible speed and change of direction.
The former cornerback now wide receiver did not get onto the field too much except in the return game for the Bulls this season. He scored one touchdown on a reverse, but was not involved in the passing game. Entering 2011, he will stay at wide receiver and work hard to become an every down wide receiver and help add skill and play making ability to the position.
Mitchell is simply a speed demon on the field. When the ball is in his hands, he is a threat to score both on returns and now in the offense. Having him as a wide receiver gives the Bulls a new dimension in the passing attack and has defensive coordinators worried at night.
Expect Mitchell to become more involved this season in the offense as the coaches use his speed to create terror on the field and get more points on the board. This could be the year of the T-Rex for the Bulls in 2011.
