Koscso Ready

Coach Lelo Prado is glad to have Koscso on this roster.

The 2011 baseball is fast approaching (starting Friday at Florida) and I haven't had the time to do some special player previews, but I will give you two players that I follow and cheer for more than others, starting with senior 3rd baseman Jonathan Koscso. [keep reading]

Koscso, the 5'11 185-pound 3rd baseman, has been an anchor on the diamond and in the batting lineup for years now. Koscso played in all 58 games last season and has started 175 straight games, showing his toughness and ability to play.

He is a very versatile player, playing at 3rd base, short stop, and 2nd base. He has an excellent arm and great range, allowing him to move to any infield position and never miss a beat. This versatility gives coach Lelo Prado more options on who he wants to play at what position and can be confident when he moves Koscso over to a different position.

At the plate, Koscso is a very solid contact hitter. Last season, he hit .324 in conference play and .364 with runners in scoring position, showing he is able to hit when it matters most. He has over 200 hits in his USF career and looks to add to this impressive number this year. He does not have huge power numbers, but gets on base and battles at the plate.

There are plenty of hitters on the USF squad, but Koscso is a special player. He plays nearly every position in the infield and is a solid hitter at the plate, giving Prado an ideal tool on the field. He should have a great season and looks to get started early when he and the Bulls travel to Gainesville to take on the hated Gators.
