From Greg Auman - Recruiting is heating up for USF as the last few recruits make their final decision before Wednesday and National Signing Day. As Greg Auman reported yesterday, defensive tackle Marquis White (6'5" 297-pounds) from North Carolina Tech has committed to the Bulls after visiting on the 21st. White also visited FAMU (strange) and had UNC and Minnesota on his list of possible schools.
White played at Olympia High School in Orlando (connection to commit Corian Hamilton maybe) and should be enrolling into USF some time this summer. I don't believe White would be coming to USF if it wasn't for Holtz and his connection to the Carolinas and his old recruiting ground.
White is being labeled a freak athelte, meaning he can make all the plays. He will be behind Hampton and McCaskill this year and behind Todd Chandler as well. He should have 4 years of eligibility, so he could become a nice defensive presence on the line. If this holds true, this is a nice signing by Holtz to help anchor the defensive line that was a bit thin on depth coming into the season.
