Bulls Beat Miami

The USF baseball season has gotten of to a rough start, losing 3 games to Florida and then losing 2 of 3 games in the home opening series against Elon, but yesterday, the Bulls put that behind them with a win over Miami, 4 to 2. The game was part of a 2 game event (The Florida 4) held at Steinbrenner field (FSU and UF squared off in the second game).

Matt Reed pitched 7 strong innings for the Bulls, giving up only 4 hits and 1 run, letting his defense back him up. The Bulls' bullpen was depleted after the 16 inning game on Sunday, so Coach Prado needed Reed to pitch deep into the game and he came through. Quackenbush pitched a solid 9th inning to close out the game and give the Bulls their second win of the season (2-5)

Andrew Longley was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs on the afternoon. Sam Mende was also 2 for 4. Todd Brazeal and James Ramsay each had an RBI as the Bulls got their first win over Miami since 2004.

Now at 2-5, the Bulls return home this weekend to host a series against Florida A&M. THe first game is Friday at 7 PM, so make sure to get out to the new stadium and cheer on the Bulls.
