What grade does Shaun Noriega get? (Picture: USFnation.com)
This is going to be an interesting grading post as we take a look at sophomore guard Shaun Noriega. Noriega, the 3-point specialist, was cold early in the season and struggled to find his range. But as the season wore on, he got plenty of playing time, got starts in big games, and came to life in the Big East Tournament. Time to take a closer look at the sharp-shooting guard. [keep reading]

Noriega (6'4" 195-pounds) sophomore guard is a 3-point specialist that can cause headaches for opposing teams. He averaged 6.4 points per game (shot 37% from 3-point range), .7 rebounds per game, and .4 assists per game.

On offense, Noriega's game is simple, catch and shoot. He is a very accurate shooter and can get onto a hot streak (look at the Big East Tournament). Early in the year, he struggled to find his range, but as he got more time and found his range, he helped open up the offense. Noriega is not at driving to the hoop and creating his own mid-range shot. He has to rely on the point guard to move the offense and help set up his game.

On defense, he is solid enough, but can be beaten off the dribble. Noriega hustles hard on every play and works to keep the ball handler off their game. He adjusted well to the speed of the Big East style of play, but has a lot of work to do if he wants to take his game to a higher level.

Final grade: C+
