| Guard Shedrick Haynes didn't get much playing time this year (Picture: www.gousfbulls.com) |
The grading continues as this time we take a look at guard Shedrick Haynes. Haynes, the JUCO transfer from Lackawanna College did not make much of an impact in his first year with the Bulls. He played sparingly during the season, playing in just 25 games and averaging just 6 minutes a game. Haynes will have to step up this off season and prepare himself for next year. Time to take a look at what he did do on the floor this year. [keep reading]
Haynes, the 6' 185-pound guard transferred to USF last season, but did not make an impact like another transfer did, Hugh Robertson.
On offense, Haynes did get a chance to shoot the ball much. He averaged just 1.1 points per game, .4 rebounds per game, and .7 assists per game. He came off the bench during end of game situations when the Bulls were either blown out or just to give Crater a break. He has a decent jump shot and has 3-point range. He can drive to the hoop and has enough speed to beat a defender. Heath needs to get him more time on the court and help develop him for next year. When Crater was not on the court, Haynes struggled to run the offense due to lack of playing time and poor coaching.
On defense, once again, the lack of playing time made it very hard to judge what can of player Haynes is. He has excellent speed and in his short playing time, he did well to stay in front of a player and use his hands well to keep the pressure on the ball handler.
His potential: Unlike Dority, Haynes will be a senior next season and won't have much more time to learn the offense and make an impact. He has plenty of skill to play the position and with the lack of depth behind Crater, Haynes will get his chance. It is unclear how well he will play next year, but he, just like Dority, have to step up and make their names known.
Grade: C-

All I have to say is that STAN HEATH lost one of the best players that he could have had. I would have to say that STAN HEATH (MICRO MANAGING the ball games with not a lot of coaching skills.) Also he did not show the ability to make adjustments at half time this is what hurt the bulls season most. So the grade that I would give Stan Heath is an (F) Hope that he would make better adjustments next season.

I don't think Haynes fit into Heath's sytem to begin with. Heath runs a slower tempo offense, Haynes is the type of player that wants to get out and run. He is not a PG that Heath wants, Crater is the guy that slows the offense down and runs it. In Haynes defense, he never got a shot.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Heath has another 2 seasons to show improvement or he will follow Robert McCullum out the door.
