Bulls Fall to Nova

USF baseball couldn't complete the sweep of Villanova yesterday, falling 4 to 3 in the final game (Bulls won the first two games in convincing fashion.

Matt Reed pitched 5.1 innings (gave up 7 hits) and the Bulls led the game late, but the defense and bullpen lost it for them. Quackenbush gave up two runs after being nearly unhittable this season. The defense failed to turn a double play behind him and Villanova was able to get a few runs across and salvage a game in conference play.

The Bulls are now 11-15 (3-3) and really should have swept this series against Villanova, who is not a strong baseball team this year. The Bulls are still below .500 with their overall record, but picking up a few wins in this series when they could have fallen apart was key.

The Bulls now travel to Jacksonville to take on Jacksonville University in a two game set, starting Tuesday at 6:30 and 4:30 on Wednesday. The Dolphins of JU are 17-11 this season and 11-5 at home, so this won't be an easy game for the Bulls, especially the way they tend to play.
