Hope Still for USF Basketball

Don't give up Heath, there is still hope for this program.

10 wins. This is the story of the USF basketball program. 10 wins is the entire total the men's team put together this season in route to another losing campaign and another painful year for the fans. But there is reason to have hope for the upcoming year and into the very near future. Here are my three main reasons I have hope, maybe stupid hope, but hope none the less. [keep reading]

New Facilities - If you haven't been on campus lately near the athletics side, it is simply a construction zone. Between the new baseball park, new football fields, and now the Muma Center, the entire side of campus is growing. The basketball team is part of it as well. The Muma Center is close to completion and from the details, should put USF on the map in regards to facilities with everything they will have. USF also just received funding to rennovate the aging Sun Dome, which should improve the playing area for both the players and the fans.

Seeing the facilities that have already been built, I am more than excited to see what the new ones will look like and how they will improve the program and hopefully take them to the next level.

New players - Coach Heath wrapped up the 2012 recruiting class and it seems the team is loaded with more talent than last season. With two new big men to control and the paint and two guards that should be able to add some offense, the team is infused with talent now. Along with Rudd and the returning team, the Bulls have some great players and pieces to the puzzle that should equal a few more wins next year. If Gilchrist returns, the Bulls will have a solid team and something Heath will be able to coach and try to win a few more games.

The Bulls played everyone tough this year, leading in many games, only falling apart at the end of a contest. Heading into the new year, this has to be a building block for the young players and a driving factor for the veterans who want to get those final wins before their careers are over.

The fans - Sounds cliché, but this is a very important part of the formula for winning and it starts with the student section that needs to be filled next season. The Bulls have a great fan base. The new baseball stadium is selling out and the football tickets are going fast, this is something Heath and company need to take advantage of and start campaigning more to get the fans to show up to the games.

Bull Rush will start promoting more games and try to get the fans more involved, trying to fill up the Sun Dome and outnumber the opposing fans that seem to fill up the upper sections in the Dome.

So fans, do you have any hope for the program? What are you excited about for next season? Let us know what you think will become of USF
