The Bulls traveled to Stetson last night hoping for a win over an in-state foe, but they returned to Tampa battered and bruised after getting ripped by #25 Stetson 9 to 1.
Nick Gonzalez had another awful night on the mound as the freshman pitcher continues to struggle with his command. He gave up 10 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk (including 5 doubles and 1 homerun). Gonzalez didn't get anyone out in the 4 inning when the Hatters exploded for 7 runs. Andrew Loynaz came in for relief, giving up 4 hits and 1 run.
The USF offense took the night off as well. Jonathan Koscso was 3 for 4 and Alex Mendez had an RBI, but no one else did anything on offense as the Stetson pitching just dominated the Bulls hitters, making it an ugly evening for the team as they try to put the pieces back together after this game.
The Bulls now sit at 15-17 (4-3) and travel to take on Seton Hall Friday for a 3-game weekend series. Seton Hall is 14-15 (4-5) right now, so it is going to be an evenly matched series from the record standings and a series USF really needs to win in order to stay ahead in the conference standings and try to get back over .500.
