Well, we couldn't just drive over to Orlando and shut off all their computers, could we? After the news broke about Villanova's decision being delayed by the Big East, it didn't take long (if you don't consider two days to write a blog "long") for pro-UCF bloggers to start getting all fidgety while they wait for an invitation that isn't coming. It's sad, really. It sort of makes you think of that kid at the homecoming dance by himself, and the cheerleader comes up looking like she's about to ask him to dance, and then takes the hand of a much better looking guy.
One pro-Knight blogger, Mike Bianchi, wrote a big-boy column all by himself! So congratulations to him, the sky is the limit. Here's the link to it, and feel free to post comments on the page. As a USF fan, it's obvious that I find it hard to be unbiased with something so close to home, but realistically, it just isn't the right fit for this league. Bianchi even had the nerve to play the "Top 25" card. A team that won a sub-par non-AQ conference and beat one of the worst BCS teams in the country for its first ever bowl win and second win over a BCS team in over ten years isn't exactly fit to move up to a BCS conference. I can think of at least thirty teams in the country who were better last season. The double-digit wins are a hallmark of a below-average schedule. Let's not forget, also, that they had a 17-game losing streak six years ago, only to win over Marshall, who finished 4-7.
It's still only a matter of time until Nova actually does get the green light to make their jump. But until then, we're going to have to sit and listen to these posts asking for an invitation. So please, Villanova, if not for yourselves, do it for us, the fans who are tired of hearing other schools think they deserve a shot at our conference.
The license plate says it all.
ReplyDeleteIt only took 3 days before USF was talking about UCF... again.
ReplyDeleteUSF can't win a sub-par AQ conference. Finally beat an AQ Bowl team (a 6-6 ACC team). And it's not like UCF gets to play the number of AQ schools USF does every year to increase its tally. UCF is non-AQ. Why is USF looking over its shoulder? Scared?
Not our first win over a AQ team, try Auburn, Florida State, Miami for starters, what is your biggest win? A win over a 6-6 Georgia team? Big win there. Almost beating Texas doesn't count either, you still lost. We aren't afraid of that team down I-4.
ReplyDeletehaha. I didn't see a Big East team in the top 25, but there were two from C-USA. Hmmmm, what league is really sub-par?
ReplyDeleteDidn't see a Conference USA team make it as an at-large bid either. Remind me, when was the last time UCF beat USF?
ReplyDeleteyoure really reaching when you play the "6 years ago" card.
ReplyDeleteYour reaching me with the winning over a 6-6 Georgia team and no wins over top 25 programs in recent memory
ReplyDeleteNot to mention having NC State in 2001 your most recent win over an AQ team before that.
ReplyDeleteLet me know when you get ranked #2 in the country
ReplyDeletelololololol. #2 to nothing. See that worked out real well for you losers. HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteLast I checked you pansies are the ones who quit playing us so you could play Wofford and Central Canada Community College.
Beating your ass every year got boring, moving on to bigger things. We scheduled Notre Dame to start 2011, you scheduled Charleston Southern, and?
ReplyDeleteWHOA!!! Watch out, this is a killer OOC schedule.
ReplyDeleteBall State, FAMU and UTEP. ND has to schedule you because of their agreement with the BE, have fun with a one and done, sounds like Sun Belt scheduling.
FIU and Boston College, watch out! We got Miami as well. Big East better quality of play. Remember the last time you played a BE team in a bowl, Rutgers beat that ass.
ReplyDeleteUSF is ripping off Notre Dame by even showing up for this game, to the tune of almost 1 million. I thought UCF was suppose to have a good Business School? Looks like someone failed out. And your laughable if you think the C-USA was better then the Big East last year. UCF may have one a game in the Big East. And wait nope, Cincy would have out scored you as well.
ReplyDelete4-0, UCF sucks in football. The last time you won the C-CUSA title a few years back, what was the score of that USF vs UCF game that season?? I believe it was a 40 point ass whipping.
You can't talk shit about the record. You pussies quit playing.
ReplyDeleteHow does it feel to be in the shadow of a non-AQ team BTW? Better facilities, better coaches, better recruits, better campus. Green with envy.
Have fun finishing in the bottom half of the BE again this coming season. When you can get above being the 4th best fb team in a conference full of basketball first schools let me know.
Better facilities hahaha. You will eat that statement once our upgrades are finished in season. We have the best Baseball/Softball complex in this state. Will have the best soccer stadium in the state, state of the art Golf Facilities, and the icing on the cake the best Basketball facilities in the state as well. But nice try. Oh and Better coach?? HAHAHAA, UCF should know better then anyone about getting whipped up by East Carolina under Holtz. That one season you guys had all this "momentum" going into the ECU game, and they rolled in to Orlando and smacked that ass.
ReplyDeleteWe are far from in the shadow of UCF, its the other way around. Which is the reason we are in the Big East, and you keep playing one man phone tag with the powers that be in Providence.
And 4-0 against you, and you have an awful record against Big Six teams. Oh and 17 game losing streak.
Really? Smack from 2004??? Get some new material. Congrats on having better facilities for the sports no one cares about. The Sun Dump will never be on par with our arena no matter how much money you put into it, it needs to be bulldozed.
ReplyDeleteHow about your high school stadium that they forgot to install a water fountain in? Better baseball, softball, football, soon to be basketball, end of story. Don't try to fire material from a season where you own your first bowl game.
ReplyDeleteGo Golden Showers!
ReplyDeleteStadium smack too? When did you guys get your own stadium, must have missed that? Also please show me where your football, basketball, baseball, womens and mens soccer, and track teams were all ranked in the top 25 this past year...
ReplyDeleteRather have a pro stadium than a high school stadium and how many conference usa titles do your programs have?
ReplyDeleteTop 10 USF Un-accomplishments:
ReplyDelete1. Never finished in the final rankings in AP or coaches polls.
2. Never won the Big East. Only Rutgers shares in your glory.
3. Finest Rental-stadium in the country. Nice pirate ship by the way.
4. Fastest plummet in NCAA football history from a #2 ranking.
5. Never finished in top half of Big East basketball. Bottom 3 in all but one season.
6. Continues to have one of the worst APR's in Florida.
7. USF is SO GOOD they are commonly mistaken and misspoken as UCF.
8. University of Texas thanks you every time you use their hand gesture.
9. Stole Jack Link's Beef Jerky Logo. Your originality is just flourishing!
10. Never won CUSA in anything when they were a member.
Sounds like the other 2,000 people who showed up to your spring game feel the same way.
ReplyDelete13 titles with a few more likely before the end of the school year.
I like that you have being mistaken as UCF as an un-accomplishments. Even you realize that no one wants to be called UCF, not even UCF
ReplyDeleteUh dumbass. It was UCF that Alex sink called USF...so get your facts right.
ReplyDeleteUh dumbass, it was several football commentators at USF home and away games that called you UCF... so get YOUR facts straight.
ReplyDeleteExactly the kind of stupid drivel I'd expect from a 20 year old who doesn't know what he's talking about.
ReplyDeleteWe (UCF fans) get it. You don't want UCF in the Big East, but you can't give one good reason why. You say "realistically it just isn't the right fit for this league" but you never say why. All you do is try to denigrate UCF's measurable success last year by bringing up a losing streak from 7 years ago, disagreeing with a consensus top 25 ranking in every major CFB poll (in which USF received 0 votes), and bringing up a poor record in the past against teams from AQ conferences.
The problem with your argument is you ignore all the experts (who are much more knowledgeable than a 20 year old homer) from around the country (not just in Orlando) who all laud UCF as a no-brainer for conference expansion. If you'd like, I could point you to articles from ESPN, the Boston Globe, etc.
We all know you don't want to have your only advantage over UCF disappear, and I can't say I blame you. But at least try to back your opinions up with something solid.
"So please, Villanova, if not for yourselves, do it for us, the fans who are tired of hearing other schools think they deserve a shot at our conference."
Deserve? Let's talk about deserving. Before moving to the Big East, USF had never BEEN TO a bowl, much less won a bowl game. Your program has still never finished better than tied for 3rd in any conference you've played in. What have you ever done for "your conference?" I know you got to a #2 ranking in the middle of the season, but I also remember you lost the next three games and finished unranked after getting stomped by a Dennis Dixon-less Oregon squad in the Sun Bowl. And that's your best season ever... So what have you ever done to "deserve" where you are? Nothing, and certainly less than UCF has done to date.
Then again, I wouldn't expect you to know all that history since you were in high school at the time.
If you really think it's USF blocking UCF from joining the Big East you really don't understand how a conference is governed and how the schools have some say so, we aren't holding them back, know your research. How are UCF's Bowl win, notice win? Now get out of your mother's basement and do your own research.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Did a long and truthful UCF comment just get removed because of facts? Just goes to show how pathetic USF is.
ReplyDeletePUT THE COMMENT BACK UP MODERATOR! Or are you that big of a pansy?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteComment is back up tard, it wasn't removed it to begin with, just look and read, you can do that right
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteUCF - 13 Conference titles in 5-1/2 years
UWCF - 0 in their history.
As a Louisville fan, I have my negative feelings about UCF but most of them stem from the fact that you guys have stolen 4-star recruits from us a lot lately (3 in football, 1 in basketball in the past two seasons alone).
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I don't really see the negative characteristics brought on by the USF fans. In fact, UCF stands high above Villanova (except for bball) in just about everything.
I can definitely see the hate from USF and I certainly understand why. I agree, though, that having been invited from C-USA, Cincy and us had some significant success in there before our departure. Not trying to take a jab at USF but just don't marginalize UCF's efforts and success in C-USA.
USF didn't accomplish jack when they were invited. Just right place, right time. Our basketball team was in the A-Sun and was playing in a garage.
ReplyDeleteFast-forward to now when it's time for consideration AGAIN, UCF has actually accomplished something and plays in a respected league and in a nice basketball facility.
USF fans should be thankful that a top 20 media market and slightly better basketball stature got them in at the time.
Weak post. Those few "bloggers" you reference include two from espn, two from the os and one from the boston globe. Everything else written in this diary entry is food for trolls, written with intent to instigate. Not sure you can write a post to imply ucf fans are delusional when the implicit text is describing Villanova as a superior candidate without being ironic or toungue in cheek. Posts like this are sad, then funny but then sad again. It adds absolutely nothing to the conversation. Even the example used is the lame, it's like a guy at a Homecoming Dance? How original and perspective filled... so no real research, no relevant or novel information, inferior articulation and no originality in humor or experience. You've been clowned by the comment section. To any reasonable USF fans, none of which probably read this site, let's dial back the vitriolic rhetoric. We should be in a bcs conference. We invest in athletics, are a large state school and want to compete at the highest level and we are willing to pay for it. That should be all it takes. I would also remind you that an organic rivalry is pretty rare.
ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of a girl at a dance that never said one original or interesting sentence. I walked away from her thought... man I wish there was a comment section on her. It's UCF's time.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, the logo does look like a penis! oh well! I say bring in UCF! Then we could keep up the rivalry! But I don't have the animosity that you guys do. we were able to beat UCF pretty well those 4 times, but the last time was pretty close! Rivalries are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have FAU than UCF in the Big East. Would give us better access to the Miami area, and we know that Rutgers would love that too!
ReplyDeleteJust say no to UCF!!
and it continues lol That's Enough O'Leary
