A week and a half ago, it seems like USF's softball team had a legitimate chance to win the regular season Big East title outright going into a doubleheader with then-23rd ranked Notre Dame. After getting swept last week and only managing to muster one hit, the Bulls are now looking to salvage at least a little late-season respect with a series against current Big East leader DePaul. Having already grabbed a spot in the Big East championship tournament in Clearwater, it's possible that Coach Ericksen and staff may allow the team to take it easy this weekend and begin preparing for the tournament this month. However, if the girls expect to play in the postseason, they might need a sweep in Chicago. Given the fact that the Bulls led the conference for much of this season, it looks like a possibility that the ladies won't get an at-large bid to the tournament if they don't win the conference championship. We're hoping to see as much USF Softball as possible, so we're rooting hard for three big wins this weekend before they come home.
