That's Enough, O'Leary

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, and I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Many know George O'Leary notoriously as the coach who wrote false things on his resume for the head coaching job at Notre Dame by indicating that he was a three-year letter winner at New Hampshire when he in fact did not play at all, and had a Master's degree from a university that doesn't exist. Now, it wouldn't be fair to ostracize him forever for that one incidence, even if i did result in his immediate firing from the most prestigious program in the country, but now it appears O'Leary might just have a knack for bending the truth for his benefit. At a UCF alumni meeting, Old Georgie announced that the UCF-USF series was back on, saying that these two "nut job fan bases" will finally be reunited beginning in 2015. It was discovered soon after that there were in fact no solid plans to resume the rivalry. Athletics representatives from South Florida stated that there was nothing to indicate that the teams would be meeting in 2015 or ever.

After four years of perennial domination, the Bulls finally had enough of the Knights, as they believed they were on to bigger and better things. A year after USF cut ties with our counterparts to the east, they made the trip north to beat down Florida State, thus showing that they are absolutely ready for the spotlight. USF went on to begin a four-game series with Miami, which is currently split 1-1, after the FSU win. They went on the road again this past season, coming back with a loss to Florida, but not before giving the Gators a halftime scare, tied 7-7.

All this is great for the Bulls, so what has UCF been doing in our time apart? Well, the Knights are coming off an 11-3 season, their best ever. They won Conference USA, quite possibly the least competitive conference in the nation behind maybe the Mountain West right now. They won their first ever bowl game against a Georgia team who may have been the worst team to make a bowl game. That bowl win was also their first against a BCS team in over ten years. They're in talks for making a move to the Big East, except half the conference is opposed to it.

So why lie, O'Leary? Are you so confident in your job that you feel like you can just make things up in order to milk some extra cash from your boosters? Or are you so bored with your job that you thought falsifying the facts again might spice it up? Do I need to mention that whole DaMarcus Smith thing? 100% a Knight, huh? I can't help but notice a habit of lying here. I can't speak for everyone here in Tampa, but I think we'd all appreciate it if you would stop mentioning us in the same sentence as UCF. In fact, don't mention USF at all, please. I only wish Mike Bianchi were able to read so he would have written something ridiculous about this already.

Before I lose those UCF people's attention, I just want to state it very clearly once more: USF wants NOTHING to do with UCF, whether it be with football or conference co-membership or anything else. There is absolutely no benefit that USF can gain from inevitably delivering more annual beatings, other than cheap travel costs. UCF prides themselves on winning C-USA, but they will always be the annoying younger brother that never understands why they can't play with the bigger siblings. USF has climbed that hill, gaining national recognition and earning the respect of those traditionally exceptional programs within the state. It's becoming obvious that Central Florida is begging for USF to let them back into their lives, but as of now, it seems that the Bulls have no interest whatsoever in them, and with good reason. As it stands, USF is in fact on to better things, and UCF is just going to have to find another team to bother for a rivalry. I hear Jacksonville University is open to new things, maybe you should give them a call (sorry to dump this burden on you, JU, but we're looking out for ourselves here).

P.S. Thanks to all the UCF trollers from the last couple posts, your comments sent our site rating through the roof!
