Bulls Sweep St. John's

A big weekend for USF baseball ended on another high note today as the Bulls completed the sweep over St. John's with a walk-off win in the bottom of the 11th inning. Kyle Eastham got the day started with 6 strong innings, allowing just 4 hits and 1 run, striking out 3. Jimmy Moran got the win, his 4th of the year. Junior Carlin was the big hero of the game, getting the game winning hit in extra innings and pushing the Bulls into 3rd place in the Big East conference.

The win pushes the Bulls to 22-21 on the year (11-7) in conference play. This is the first time since 2009 the Bulls have been over .500, as sad as it sounds, this is huge for the moral of the team with this big time win. The sweep should help raise the USF RPI numbers if they do manage to stay alive for a remote shot at the postseason, but they will have to put this sweep behind them as they host UCF on Tuesday night at 7 PM. UCF, 27-17 (7-11) lost to USF at home earlier this season and will be looking for revenge as they begin a 5-game road trip. For USF, it is another big chance to get a huge win over an in-state foe, raise their RPI and get another win on the year. Congrats to the men today, great job with getting the sweep over the Red Storm, but its time to get back to work.

  1. Jimmy Moran. Only way USF makes the NCAAs is by winning the Big East tournament.

  2. Thanks, even if they don't make the NCAA tournament, it is nice to see the team playing some of their best baseball. Although they should have been playing like this all season.
