Wide receiver Evan Landi could get a look at tight end this season due to his size (Picture: www.gousfbulls.com) |
From Adam Adkins - Just a few closing notes from the Vero Beach camp (taking a look at the quotes and facts Adkins recorded during his trip to Vero). Holtz gassed the team before heading back to Tampa today, running them through 145 plays in the awful heat and humidity in South Florida. The team pushed through and made it through the camp ahead of where they were last season and the hopes are higher than ever.
B.J. Daniels was back at practice today after missing 3 days. He is still getting treatment, but is ready to play and continues to prepare. He followed Holtz around those 3 days, taking all the mental notes he could and should be mentally prepared to take the first snap vs. ND (getting Eveld plenty of practice doesn't hurt either).
An interesting note from Holtz is the number of snaps that wide receiver Evan Landi is taking at tight end. The junior wide receiver is the leading returning receiver to the team, but has the size and ability to be split out wide. While Landi still considers himself as a wide receiver, getting work at tight end could give the Bulls another look in the blocking and passing game. Landi is 6-3 221-pounds and a former safety so he can get on the line and block if needed. Compare him to tight end Andreas Shields who is 6-4 246-pounds, they are very close the Bulls could bring a new look to the passing attack with him on the line and other receivers getting a chance on the outside.
Ernie Tabuteau, Demi Thompson, and Mark Popek were back in pads as well today as the minor injury bug seems to be leaving the Bulls (always glad to see them healthy).
