Faron Hornes (one of the best names) is no longer part of the team according to news breaking tonight (www.gousfbulls.com) |
From Adam Adkins via Twitter - An interesting note coming out of practice tonight, wide receiver Faron Hornes is no longer part of the team and is no longer attending USF.
The 5-6 182-pound speedy slot receiver who came out of Bradenton, Florida, went to Butler Community College before coming back to USF and his home area is no longer part of the team and it appears, according to the tweet, he is no longer attending USF (could be academics).
Hornes (love the name no matter what) was listed as the co-slot receiver with Victor Marc this Spring and had played in 26 games as a Bull. He recorded 11 receptions last season for 135 yards including a huge 70-yard strike that rallied the game for the Bulls against Cincinnati. He also rushed the ball 5 times for 15 yards. His effort was big in the win against Cincinnati so this departure is not great to see.
Following up this morning it appears Hornes (according to GA) had academic issues over the Summer, left the team, but appeared to have it all resolved, or at least we thought. This is the third player Holtz has lost this Fall.
The only bright side to this situation is that a scholarship could be available for a possible transfer such as James Louis (WR from OSU) or Mwyan Jackson (UNC).
