Could the Bulls be in the mix for another talented transfer? |
From Greg Auman - With Aycock and Wilkinson leaving the program, the Bulls now have two scholarships open and the rumors of transfers continue to swirl around the program, including a wide receiver from Ohio State. [keep reading]
James Louis, the 5-11 178-pound speed receiver out of Delray Beach, Florida (Daytona Beach) has stated that he will be transferring away from Ohio State and moving closer to home to play football. He has cited family issues as the reason for the departure, but the entire Tressel mess probably didn't help either.
The former 4-star receiver (ran the 40-yard dash in 4.4 second, yikes) has mentioned USF as a team on the short list for his transfer. He will visit Miami and FIU today and has FSU and USF on his list. Louis has stated he has been in contact with USF coach Kevin Patrick and even went to high school with safety Jon Lejiste (always a positive there).
Now the only issue holding up Louis coming to USF fast would be the scholarship issue. It has not been clear from USF how the scholarship issue with Wilkinson and Aycock is being handled and with only a handful of scholarships left for the 2012 recruiting class (don't forget McFarland could snag one as well) the Bulls may not have one available until after January and Louis has stated he won't wait that long to enroll at a school.
If Louis did join the program (pending scholarships of course) he would have to sit out the season (like Chris Dunkley is doing) but would still have three years left of eligibility starting in 2012.
Louis could join the Bulls by the end of the week. The team will still be in Vero Beach wrapping up their Fall camp down their with a very important scrimmage on Saturday afternoon.
Honestly, I am not so sure USF could bring in Louis. The Bulls are pretty stacked at wide receiver right now, although a talent like Louis would be huge in the passing game. The lack of an available scholarship is troubling and him visiting Miami and FIU first, both closer to his home, does not help our chances either. I would be slightly surprised if he did come to USF, but would welcome the addition to the program. We will have more when he makes his final decision.
He has good speed. I'd love to send another Florida DE to the NFL. Maybe we can find him a home at USF (anywhere but that school down the street).
ReplyDeleteSend another DE to the NFL? Not sure what you mean by that? We will have to wait till the end of the week for his decision.
