Bulls in the NFL: George Selvie with the Rams

Former USF great George Selvie continues to work hard for the St. Louis Rams.
The Bulls have enjoyed a lot of recent success in the past few years and star players have made their way to the NFL gridiron to continue their play after they graduate. One of the biggest stars to have ever played for USF, defensive end George Selvie, continues to grow in the NFL level and looks to make an even bigger impact in his second season as a pro. [keep reading]

The 6-4 245-pound defensive end was drafted in the 7th round by the St. Louis Rams, a tad low for most USF fans who got to witness the relentless defensive star during his USF career. Selvie posted 15 tackles and 2 sacks in limited playing time during the season, playing back up to 1st round pick Chris Long, but Selvie continues to work hard and showcase what made him a household name at USF.

Selvie was recruited to USF as a 2-star offensive lineman, but quickly transitioned to defensive end due to his speed and ability to get off the snap, the rest is history. Selvie became a monster during his career, becoming the only 2-time All American in USF history and posting incredible statistics during the process. He started 50 games in his career, recording 150 total tackles, 69.5 tackles for a loss (insane), 29 sacks, and forced 9 fumbles. Selvie seemed to be in the backfield on every snap and became one of the most feared players in the NCAA.

While not drafted highly due to his size and drop off in production in his final season as a Bull, Selvie continues to work hard and should see increased playing time this season. His ability to get off the line of scrimmage fast and work his way to the ball carrier makes him a great weapon on defense and he should continue to grow and work hard for the Rams. Good luck to Selvie this season.
