Notes From USF Practice - Day 10

From Greg Auman and Adam Adkins - The Bulls were in full pads for their first full fall scrimmage. The weather delayed them for the most part of the afternoon, but the team waited out the lightning and got in a solid day worth of work as they continue to develop the depth of the roster and begin the decision making for the Bulls and the coaching staff.

Daniels was out today, but should be ready for Monday practice (two-a-day). Defensive tackle Demi Thompson was still out with back spasms, but it sounds like he should be alright. Starting left tackle Mark Popek left the practice after complaining of headaches due to a hit (day-to-day). Ernie Tabuteau also missed practice due to back spasms as well.

Lindsey Lamar, Derrick Hopkins, and Darrell Scott were fielding punts today as the Bulls look to get the best playmakers the ball in their hands (still see Lamar as they best return man we have).

Matt Floyd played well with the second team offense, gong 18 for 25 with 161 yards, including a touchdown to Deonte Welch but was also picked off by Tyson Butler. Bobby Eveld did well too, working with the first team, helping him get the reps while Daniels watched from the sideline.

Marcus Shaw continued to run well and seemed to separate himself from Battles and Davis. Scott had some nice runs but it was hard to determine depth as the coaches continued to rotate a ton of players through to get a better evaluation.

Luke Sager and Todd Chandler played well on the defensive line and continued to get to the quarterback. Freshman Elkino Watson made a lot of noise for the Bulls, living in the backfield and causing trouble. Holtz called him a "talent" and is expecting him to continue to impress. Marquis White also made a few great plays.

Corey Henderson, a cornerback from UF when they won a NC (makes me sick still) is hoping to walk-on to the Bulls later as a graduate walk-on. Mwyan Jackson, the cornerback transfer from UNC, stated that USF is high on his list of transfer schools and would make his decision by next week.

The Bulls have an off day tomorrow then return on Monday for a two-a-day practice. Holtz will look to have Daniels back on the field for the Bulls as they prepare to wrap-up the Vero Beach camp and prepare for the big season ahead.
