Defensive tackle Demi Thompson was just one of many Bulls that are dealing with minor injuries . |
From Adam Adkins - Here are some of the highlights from the Bulls practice. After an off day yesterday, the day returned to pads and a two-a-day practice looking to get the team back together after a rest day.
B.J. Daniels was back in action, but limited in his full work load. No matter how much he did, having him back on the field is a huge step for the offense.
The biggest news on the first half of the day of the practice was the move of Armando Sanchez back to linebacker and the move of Tye Turner to fullback. Sanchez stated he felt better at linebacker and the play and size of Turner made it easy to move him to the backfield.
Jeremiah Warren took snaps at the left tackle and John McGhin moved over to left guard as injuries seemed to plague the team, probably a carry over from the long scrimmage on Saturday.
Defensive tackle Demi Thompson (back), offensive tackle Mark Popek (headaches), cornerback Ernie Tabuteau (back spams), defensive tackle Cory Grissom (headaches), cornerback Quenton Washington (illness) were not in practice for the first half of the day. All of the injuries are considered minor so this is not too much to worry about at the moment. Offensive tackle Damien Edwards was back as well. Safety Jerrell Young injured his left finger, but was clear to go after being attended to.
The second half of the practice saw Elkino Watson and Luke Sager getting more playing time on the defensive front. Cornerback Spencer Boyd and inside linebacker Michael Lanaris worked with the first team defense and continue to impress and get a chance with the minor injuries that have mounted up.
Sterling Griffin continues to impress the coaches with his ability to work past defensive backs and make plays on the ball, he is poised for a huge season.
The Bulls will have another practice and tomorrow before they finally return home after a long and productive trip in Vero Beach.

Glad to see Spencer Boyd stepping up. Having him playing at this best will help enormously with our defensive backfield depth. Hope Tabateau comes back quickly from injury, the kid is very raw, but he's a freakishly athletic physiclal specimen.
ReplyDeleteBoyd has been stepping up and is needed in the secondary with the depth concerns (Dixon and Butler also factoring in). Tabuteau is really impressing me so far. He has a long frame and could add some muscle, but is a very instinctive player and from what I have been hearing, is really impressing the coaches. His back issue is a bit of a concern, probably not conditioned as much as Webster and others as a walk-on, but it should be minor and he should be back on the field shortly.
