Time to find out who I think will be the number one impact freshman this season. We have covered some of the top names in the recruiting class of 2011. Kenneth Durden, Tye Turner, Thor Jozwiak, and Andre Davis have all made the countdown, but now it's time to see who is going to make the biggest impact this fall for the Bulls. [keep reading]

Defensive tackle Elkino Watson - 6-2 275-pounds - Miami, Florida

Yes, Elkino Watson, the 4-star defensive tackles come in at number one on the top five impact freshman and for good reason for the Bulls.

With Terrell McClain heading to the Panthers (NFL) the Bulls with a handful of players on the defensive line that are not that experienced. Cory Grissom is the most experienced  returning player and Keith McCaskill is a senior leader, but behind them, there are questions of depth and ability.

Demi Thompson, Luke Sager, and last year's 4-star defensive tackle Todd Chandler are all listed as possible back-ups, but it will take the fall practices for the final defensive rotation and possible starters to emerge for Holtz and Snyder, this is where Watson comes in.

Watson was a surprise commit for the Bulls (Miami had been seen as the favorite) and a huge get for Holtz in the never ending recruiting battle. Watson is a tough pass rusher that can plug up the line and get to the quarterback. He finished his junior season with 65 tackles, 9 sacks and even snagged an interception. He will add weight this fall and could make an impact early in his playing career if he is able to prove himself to the coaching staff (Holtz will play the freshman when he feels they are ready).  He may not be a starter, but he will get onto the field as a key reserve and could make a huge impact.

So there you have it, I feel that Elkino Watson, the 4-star defensive tackle, will be the biggest impact freshman this season. Now, every player in the 2011 recruit class is important, this is not to take away from any single one of them. This little countdown is looking at the players that have the most college-ready game and the position on the field where they will get the quickest chance to play for Holtz.

So what do you think USF family? Do you agree with Elkino Watson coming in at number one or should the list be resorted or is there another players on the list that should fill in here (Mike Jeune is not a freshman for the recorded either).
