Former USF Bulls Tyrone McKenzie is slipping on the Bucs recent depth chart. |
We mentioned last week that former Bull Tyrone McKenzie had been working hard and progressing with the Bucs, taking snaps with the first team defense and making strides, it appears now he will have to work a little harder.
The Bucs released their first depth chart of the Spring and McKenzie has taken a step back behind the 3rd round draft pick Mason Foster. The 6-2 242-pound tackling machine out of Washington was selected by the Bucs to fill the void left behind by veteran Barrett Rudd who went to the Titans.
Even more recently than the release of the depth chart, the Bucs have come out and stated that veteran linebacker Quincy Black, usually an outside linebacker, will come in on 3rd down plays and on passing downs, leaving Foster in to handle the running downs as he gets use to the play calling and speed of the NFL game (from what I am hearing, he isn't do the greatest job in the middle in the passing game and could be beat easily once the season starts).
So where does this leave the former Bull? It leaves him on the roster, but will be cutting into his playing time at least early in the season. McKenzie has some experience, which is more than Foster has at the moment and the Bucs will use him on the field due to his ability to play the pass and experience with the play calling. He will get a chance to show himself on the field as the Bucs take on the Chiefs tomorrow night (NFL IS BACK!)
