USF Women's Basketball Non-conference Schedule Released

Coach Fernandez and his team will be earning a lot of frequent flyer miles during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
As we get geared up for the football season (FOOTBAWW) the women's 2011-2012 non-conference basketball schedule was released yesterday and the ladies will be racking up the frequent flyer miles during this season.

Click here for the full schedule.

The ladies will travel up I-4 to Daytona Beach to take on three straight tough opponents, FSU (ACC), Arkansas (SEC), and Minnesota (Big 10).

Then on November 23rd and 24th they will pack their jackets as they head to Anchorage, Alaska to take on Central Michigan and Miami (or Alaska, Anchorage). I would like to know who and why they would schedule a basketball tournament there and how on Earth USF was selected.

On December 2nd and 3rd they will travel out west to Colorado Springs to take on Air Force and Idaho State (at least it won't that far away like Alaska).

Finally, at the end of the season, the ladies will stay on the East coast and head up to New Jersey to face Dayton and St. Peter's (or Binghamton).

This is going to be a crazy season for the ladies (not much better for the men). The traveling the team will have to do is pretty bad and the very limited home games, which will be played in the Rec center, bring in tough opponents, like Stetson, who won the A-Sun conference last season and went to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Fernandez has a strong team returning with capable guard play and good, solid post players, so as long as they can stay healthy and avoid jet lag during the non-conference portion of the schedule, they should have a solid season.
