No Fly Zone Showing Strength

The No Fly Zone continues to play well and as they prepare for the spread offense of Pitt and the tougher Big East teams, they continue to rise to the occasion and seem to be getting better. Despite a few nagging injuries, they are at full strength heading into the Thursday night game and will have to be at their best to stop the spread attack of Pitt.

Last Saturday, Kayvon Webster, with Quenton Washington out, stepped up his play. He came away with 3 big tackles and a huge interception, his first of the season. Webster got back quickly in coverage, adjusted to the ball, and made a huge interception to holt the Miners drive. Kayvon continues to play at a high level and has taken his game to another level this season.

Other corners stepped up their play as well. George Baker, who got the start over Washington, made 5 huge tackles. Ricardo Dixon also made a big play with another interception as well. Getting the reserves into the mix is huge for the team going forward as they continue to build depth and show their is no let down when a reserve comes into the game.

Webster wasn't alone in the big play department. Safety Jon Lejiste came up with 5 tackles, including one tackle for a loss. Jerrell Young had 2 tackles and Mark Joyce and 2 tackles as well as the safeties continue to play big for Snyder.

As the Bulls head to a big show down on Thursday night, it was a great sign to see the big names come up with huge plays for the defense. Young and company are living up to the name of No Fly Zone and will have to become even better than they have all season long.

Washington and Jenkins should be returning this week as well and will only make the No Fly Zone stronger (more depth is always great).

If they can continue to play at this high level, make the big plays, and play smart football, the defense will only continue to get better and help lead the team to more victories.
