USF Handles UTEP 52 to 24

Daniels led the Bulls to another solid win. (Picture: www.yahoo.com)
The Bulls were not as sharp as Holtz would like before the team takes on Pitt in conference play next Thursday night, but overall, USF should be happy about this win despite losing Terrence Mitchell to a bad concussion that took him out of the game.

B.J. Daniels didn't have his best night, but he did enough with his arm and his legs (more than we have seen all season). Daniels was 15 for 24 for 203 yards, hitting two touchdowns as he continues to control the offense and not turn the ball over (was sacked twice on the night).

Daniels had 15 carries on the night for 132 yards including a 71 yard touchdown run that got the offense on top and allowed the offense to get going and put USF ahead for good. Darrell Scott had 18 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown as he continues to run hard between the tackles. Victor Marc had a carry for 67 yards and touchdown as the offense continues to show more flare. Demetris Murray had 8 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown, showing some nice bursts through the line. Lindsey Lamar had 3 carries for 36 yards running well off of tackles.

Lamar had 4 receptions for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns as he continues to step up. Marc had 2 receptions for 35 yards. Griffin had 2 for 24 yards (had a few chances, but couldn't come up with it). Welch had 1 for 21 yards. Landi had 3 for 18 yards. Shields had 1 for 11 yards, Davis had 1 for 6 and Scott had 1 for 3 yards.

Special teams struggled on the night allowing a lot of long kick returns against them, giving the Miners better field position all night. JBK had 4 punts averaging just 36 yards for all the kicks, not the best showing. Lamar had a few solid kick returns. Mitchell had a few punt returns, but was taken out of the game after a terrible tackle. T-Rex went low for a tackle after the Miners went for the fake. Mitchell's head went back and stayed down on the field until medical carts came out to take him off. Holtz stated it was a bad concussion and not an ankle injury as some had speculated. We will have more on this injury when it becomes available.

The defense didn't have the best night, but did just enough to get the job done. Giddins had a great night, getting plenty of pressure. Lattimore played hard, making a bunch of tackles. Webster and Barrington both had huge interceptions.

We will have more on the final of this game tomorrow and during the week. USF, ranked at 18th in the country, is now 4-0 and prepares for the Thursday game at Pitt on a short week.
